This year’s Synod School convenes July 26-31 around “Building a Culture of Peace” at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa. You can read the 2009 Synod School catalog and register directly from this site.  Links to the catalog and registration options can be found below.

Now that you’ve registered …

Now that you’ve registered for Synod School 2009, you probably have a few questions. What do you need to know before getting in the car? When do we need to be there? How do we get there? What do we do when we get there? And you probably have a few more.

We hope a bit of registration information will help.

You can also find some frequently asked questions - along with answers.

If you are coming to Synod School for the first time, there are a few things to know - like orientation, housing, courses and other bits and pieces.

And if you are bringing young children there are even more things to know.

Do you remember hearing something about a book, books or other resources for the classes you plan to take? You can find out for sure here with the list of Texts and Supplementary Resources.

And how do you get to Storm Lake and Buena Vista University? There are driving directions and a campus map. And you can, of course, find it by checking www.mapquest.com or www.google.com/maps.

Sara Lisherness, director of the Compassion, Peace and Justice Ministry of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), will be the convocation speaker. Evening worship will be led by “Sweet the Sound,” featuring Matt and Liz Myer Boulton, and Burns and Lorraine Stanfield, who are all colleagues in ministry in the Boston area.

Synod School provides registration options:

1.     Fill out the form in the catalog and mail it to the synod office with your check for at least the tuition fee. Copies of the catalog are available from the synod office at 800-328-1880 or email Mary Kes (mkes@lakesandprairies.org).

2.     Print the PDF version of the form(s) (Registration for Adults or Registration for Children and Youth), complete and mail to the synod office with your check for at least the tuition fee.

3.     Open the MSWord version of the form(s) (Registration for Adults or Registration for Children and Youth), save a copy on your computer and complete it there. Use your mouse or tab key to move through the form. Put an “X” in a box by clicking on it. A second click will erase the “X.” Email the completed form to jpalmer@lakesandprairies.org or mail it to the synod office. Make sure that you put “Synod School” in the subject line of your email. Mail your check for at least the tuition fee to the synod office separately if you send your registration electronically.

4.     If you have not received a confirmation form within two weeks of having emailed or mailed your registration form, please contact Jackie Palmer (jpalmer@lakesandprairies.org) or call the synod office at 800.328.1880, ext. 203, to make sure your registration was received.
